Weather Considerations

Raleigh sits at approximately 315 ft MSL in the NC Piedmont. Summers are hot and humid with frequent afternoon convective thunderstorms peaking June–August. Spring severe weather (tornadoes, damaging winds) is most likely March–May; check NWS Raleigh (weather.gov/rah). Hurricane-season tropical moisture can cause extended cloudy and rainy periods August–October. Winter is mild but occasional ice storms impact battery performance and visibility.

Seasonal Tips

BEST: October and November (low humidity, excellent visibility, fall foliage at Falls Lake and Umstead Park). April mornings before storms develop are very productive. AVOID: July and August afternoons (storms develop rapidly); March–May severe weather outbreak days.
